近十余年来,随着中国社会经济的发展,在政府的支持下,具有本土特色的城市美术馆①纷纷建立,展览及学术活动也非常之多,促进了中国艺术和文化事业的发展。作为非营利公益性文化事业机构,中国的美术馆功能正在发生完善与转变。一些走在发展前列的美术馆,其展览已经超出了只是悬挂、展示美术作品或者一些物质形态的器物和材料,而进入到了一个具有知识生产能力②的阶段。许多美术馆转向具有自主意识的策展,有自己的学术方向和定位,推出了自己的展览品牌和学术品牌。
