出版于1935年署名郑昶的《中国美术史》一书绪论部分,并非郑昶自己观点,且几乎只字不差地源自滕固相关文章,这一现象被学界误认为郑昶对滕固观点的认同,是值得商榷的。中华书局此书约稿过程几经变化,先由王光祈转手到滕固,滕氏经过深思又婉辞,再经书局转手到郑昶。对这一变化过程的考察,不仅能够合理地找到上述现象发生的根本原因,同时对滕固留学德国生活状态和学术思想变化的深入了解都有所裨益。
