This article explores the theme of love in Don Juan, the culmination of romantic poet Byron. By analyzing the protagonists in the long poem one after another on the road to the pursuit of love and freedom: Under cruel reality, the love and freedom that combine the true spirit and the flesh are always “not worth the fish and bear’s paw”; and Only sensual-based love is the yoke of spiritual freedom, and only the superior spiritual love is the same as freedom. In order to glimpse the author Byron’s alternative view of love: freedom above love, spiritual love above flesh love. Only the love of the heart and the fate of the soul and the flesh can truly be free.
