“Democratic peace” is a key topic in the study of the policies and theories of the West, especially the U.S. international relations since the end of the Cold War. The debate on the theory of democracy and peace between the theoretical schools and the theoretical standpoints is far from over. The importance of this debate is not only about how to show different theoretical positions, but rather on the policy implications and possible theoretical trends that it reflects. Therefore, it is of great significance to retrieve the origin and development of the democratic peace theory in the theory of western international relations more completely and to explore the theoretical and policy background of the rise of this theory. This article first introduces the liberalism tradition of the western theory of international relations represented by Kant on peace and secondly analyzes the theoretical and policy background of the democratic peace theory that emerged in the 1980s and various representative opinions on the democratic peace theory, Arguments and deductions to summarize, and strive to systematically introduce and analyze democracy and peace theory
