RAM: A few years ago, here I held a discussion about Whitehead’s point of view when I applied some concepts in linguistics to other fields besides language. I will extend these ideas in this discussion. Last time I said that the linguistic analysis I’m talking about can also be applied to other systems. After that I continue: But unexpectedly, Cebicoke and others proposed to extend these concepts of semiotics to the natural sciences. As an illustration of the possibilities, we can make use of a genetic information system that uses DNA as a medium to convey genetic information that passes the full spectrum of biological structures from generation to generation. Obviously, this is the field of semiotics; at the same time it obviously contains natural science. Indeed, it was suggested that all scientific objects, whether social science or natural science, can be analyzed by semiotic methods.
