高坠死亡案件的现场分为坠落起点、坠落轨迹和坠落终点,公安机关在勘查现场过程中需大量测量距离数据;随着手持式激光测距仪逐渐在公安机关刑事技术部门装备,为探讨该仪器在高坠案件现场勘查中的应用价值及使用技巧,回顾并总结了近年来在高坠类案件勘查中该仪器的使用经验。结果表明,与传统的测距工具相比,手持式激光测距仪具有重量轻、体积小、操作简便,测距非接触、测速快、测量精度高等优点,在高坠案件现场勘查中发挥重要作用,值得推广,但由于现场勘查工作的特殊性,在使用中要注意测量的方法及技巧,并探讨研制公安现场勘查专用测距仪的可行性。
