音乐是听觉艺术,它有色彩吗?有趣的是正如美术借用音乐的术语“旋律”、“节奏”一样,音乐也常借用美术的术语。如我国北宋宫廷设置的燕乐机构“教坊”后来分为十三部,称作“笛色”、“琵琶色”、“筝色”、“笙色”等。此处“色”字兼有品类和色彩双重含义。可见音乐与色彩之亲缘关系由来已久。音乐家常认为许多表现手段都具有色彩性,如大调式雄劲、刚健、明朗而小调式优美、柔和,阴暗,犹如天气之分晴明与阴雨一般;主、属、下属不同功能系的和弦被认为色彩回异;板胡、大三弦等音色突出的乐器在一般乐队中常被认为是“色彩性
