军用航空器对水面舰艇和水下潜艇的作战分别称为航空反舰战和航空反潜战。航空反潜战是利用携带反潜探测设备和反潜武器的军用航空器 (即反潜飞机),对水下潜艇目标进行探测、识别和定位,并对其实施攻击的作战行动。与水面舰艇和潜艇的反潜作战相比,反潜飞机实施航空反潜的主要优点是:反潜飞机速度快、航程远、载弹量大、机动灵活;反潜作战覆盖海域宽广、搜潜和反潜效率高;不易被水下潜艇发现和攻击,可对其实施快速击顶攻击。
