我县地处淮河上游山区,处于我国南北气候过渡地带,年平均气温15℃,末霜一般在3月下旬,初霜开始于10月下旬,生长210天左右,全年积温在5,000℃左右。春玉米一般4月份播种,8月上旬成熟;夏玉米一般6月中旬播种,9月上、中旬成熟。因此,要想使春、夏玉米在同一块地里一年两熟,是有矛盾的。我们从1977年开始,用罐埋闷种方法,使春玉米提前播种、提前成熟,给第二年夏玉米提前播种创造条件。经三年试验证明这种方法是可行的。
