白色念球菌在机体内形成厚膜孢子的例子尚未见文献报导,笔者曾从一个病人的新鲜痰液中发现有白色念珠菌的典型厚膜孢子,并经培养检查证实。病者的痰呈黏液性混有粥渣样的白色粒团,涂片检查用萃兰氏法染色,又以棉兰液及10%氢氧化钾液分别做成湿片标本,从菌丝与孢子结构,立即可以诊断是白色念珠菌,这些大而圆的厚膜孢子(直径6~8微米)有双重壁和包涵粒体的存在。另外尚有很多芽生孢子和假菌丝,玻片标本的制作是用接种环将带白色小片的痰液轻铺于玻片上;不加反复涂抹以避免捣乱微生物的形态结构。从许多革兰氏染色涂片标本以及棉兰湿片标本所得的印象:菌体结构在排列上与在玉蜀黍培基上的不同,在玉蜀黍琼脂培基上菌丝较短,且不会纠缠成团,其芽生孢子每呈球形集簇环绕菌丝生长,但是在痰液标本中,多数菌丝(假菌丝)很长,亦有互相纠缠成团的。芽生孢子不呈球形集簇,不环
