And due to the discussion on the collection, the short fiction “Cathedral” is rarely involved. So this paper aims to specialize in analyzing “Cathedral” from the perspective of Wolfgang Iser's reader-response theory. Encompassing his concept of “Blank”, the paper aims to analyze the existence of character and plot blanks to view how the interaction between the text and readers is stimulated.
