The water is the most important component in the ecosystems responsible for energy flow and mass transport.The water also plays an important role for human existence.However,the constructed infrastructures such as roads,buildings,railways,drainage systems,etc.give negative impacts to the ecosystem such as deteriorating the water quality and changing the natural water circulation system.To reduce the negative impacts of these infrastructures while having a better and more convenient life,application of green infrastructure is necessary.Sustainable water management is the principal element of green infrastructure that can be performed by reducing the energy consumption in wastewater treatment plants,applying the natural purification mechanisms in new wastewater treatment technologies,reducing toxic chemical discharges to the ecosystems,developing advanced water management technologies.
