新疆维吾尔自治区伊犁哈萨克自治州是陇海—兰新铁路的西口,地扼我国的西大门。伊犁和内地的交往联系源远流长。远在汉代张骞出使西域之后,汉公主刘细姝就嫁在那里。汉、唐时期,伊犁属于西域都护府统辖,是著名的丝绸贸易中心之一,是联系内地和中亚的贸易集散地。到了元代,伊犁上升为中亚的政治经济中心,曾经是一座繁华的国际都会。现在,伊犁已是一个多民族的自治州,有24个民族,300多万人口,总面积35万平方公里,管辖伊犁、塔城、阿勒泰三个地区,计24个县市。自治州首府设在伊宁市。在自治州境内,还有新疆生产建设兵团五个农业师和克拉玛依油田。
Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Yili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture is the west of Longhai - Lanzhou-Xinhai Railway, to the west gate of our country. Ili and the mainland exchanges of long standing. It has jurisdiction over 24 counties and cities in the three regions of Ili, Tacheng and Altay. The capital of autonomous prefecture is located in Yining City. In the territory of autonomous prefecture, there are five agricultural division of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps and Karamay Oilfield.
