Interleukin-1β (IL-1β) is a lymphokine produced by mononuclear phagocytes, polymorphonuclear leukocytes, keratinocytes, endothelial cells and the like. It has several effects on the body: such as the secretion of collagen type Ⅳ by keratinocytes; enhanced adhesion of leukocytes to vascular endothelial cells and osteoclasts to promote bone resorption; in addition to secondary antibody response to assist in accelerating the B - lymphocyte proliferation, differentiation and so on. The four subtypes of IgG in the body also show different biological characteristics. At present, there are more studies in this area, but the controversies are also large. In this study, the concentration of IL-1β and several IgG subtypes in gingival crevicular fluid from adult patients with periodontitis was detected to explore the relationship between their reported and clinical symptoms.
