Located on Lake Constance, 40 kilometers northeast of Zurich, Switzerland, the Stein am Rhein retains its 16th-century town, city walls (some of which have been replaced by houses), the city gate, the Town Hall Square and the large number of decorated Medieval buildings All well preserved. Clear urban boundaries, clear areas of life, meandering and easy to identify the path, prominent landmarks and key node space, so Stein’s distinctive urban image. The Röttingen Rhine has won its first Wakker Prize in 1972 for rewarding towns and cities in Switzerland for their excellence in the protection and development of traditional cultural and architectural heritage and their achievement of sustainable development, with their successful conservation and development practices. The experience here is all about the town as a medieval art museum.
