Several robust ternary refractive objectives were designed for use with narrow band-pass filters and chilled detector arrays in the 8-13 μm band. The performance of this design approaches the maximum theoretical value, which is measured as a percentage of the incident radiation that converges within the boundaries of the typical detector cell. This design also shows that the use of aspherical surfaces can improve performance to some extent.
