Advantex ~ (TM) continuous fiberglass from Owens Corning has been shown to be more resistant to chemical stress corrosion than E-glass at comparable material prices for high-strength steel fuel tanks for NGVs. This is the conclusion of a study by the Institute of Natural Gas Technology (IGT) in Illinois. The project was financed by the United States Department of Energy ($ 500,000), the Institute of Natural Gas at Chicago, Illinois ($ 226,000), and the Lucas Space Manufacturing System ($ 450,000) at Burnley, England.
