As early as 1911, Peyton Rous had discovered that certain avian tumours could be delivered by the cell-free filtrate, which is now known to be due to the presence of Rous virus in the filtrate. Rous himself did not believe that all tumors were caused by the virus, nor did he believe that normal cells would become out of control once infected with the virus and grow without restriction. Instead, he believes that cell cancer has become a gradual process. Oncogenic viruses can be divided into two major groups: DNA viruses and RNA viruses. The ability of these viruses to infect cells varies depending on the cell type, species, susceptibility, and resistance. The outcome of cells after infection varies, or cell lysis occurs; or a latent infection occurs; or proliferative in cells. Viral infection; there are still some can cause cancer.
