On October 19, the parade and strike of millions of people in France broke out in protest against the pension reform of the Sarkozy government. The core of the Sakonic government pension reform bill is to extend the country’s retirement age from 60 to 62 to reduce government spending on pensions. It is estimated that France’s pension deficit will reach 10.7 billion euros this year, reaching 40 billion euros in 2015, which will become a big baggage to restrain its economic recovery. To reduce pension spending, the main way for European countries is to extend their retirement age. At present, Germany has extended the retirement age to 65 and plans to gradually extend it to 67 years from 2010 to 2029. It is reported that the retirement age in Europe by the middle of this century may even be extended to 70 years or else the pension system will have the risk of collapse.
