红楼中的大部分女性形象,都或多或少显示了嫉妒的特性。上至太太、小姐、姨娘,下至嬷嬷、陪房丫头,在不同的场合,都把这种妒性以不同方式表现了出来。对形象的这一普遍性的强调,既有现实的客观原因,也反映了作者对女性的看法,其实际行为带来的或消极或积极的后果,也反映了作者对妒女的复杂评价。
Most of the female figures in the Red Mansions have more or less shown the characteristics of jealousy. Up to the wife, the lady, the aunt and the mother, down to the shyness, the companion girl, on different occasions, showed this jealousy in different ways. The emphasis on this universality of the image has both objective and realistic reasons as well as the writer’s view of the female. The negative or positive consequences brought by his actual behavior also reflect the author’s complicated appraisal of the jealous woman.
