黄山“四绝”之一是温泉。黄山温泉又称灵泉、朱砂泉,以朱砂泉流传最久且广。 “朱矿泉”的名称来源于泉水产朱砂的传说。唐岛云和尚有首诗题为《朱砂岩》,李白咏黄山诗有“渴饮丹砂井”之句,丹砂即朱砂。黄山还有朱砂峰、朱砂洞之名,都意味着产朱砂。宋朝,“朱砂泉”之名始见。宋罗愿撰《新安志》卷三中即有记载。宋胡仔的《苕溪渔隐从话》中称:“唯新安黄山是朱砂泉、春时水即微红色。”
