One of the ways to solve the problem of complex coal seam mining by reducing the loss of coal pillars and geological conditions is to adopt the short-wall mining method and adopt the BM shearer designed by Caragang Dagang Institute of Technology. The coal mining machines BMφ-2 (Fig. 1) and BMφ-4 (Fig. 2) are used for the mining of short-wall face with gently-inclined and inclined seam with complicated geological conditions ranging from 1.9 to 4 meters.
