超大型豪华游船的出现应该说是海上城市构想的前身和技术基础。从19世纪初的“泰坦尼克”号开始,豪华游船的概念深入人心。然而,时至今日,豪华游船的数量之多、体积之巨、设施之豪华、设备之先进,远远超出当年的“泰坦尼克”号。在1999年,排水量达到13万吨的“海上旅行者”号投入使用,成为世界最大的豪华游船。随后其2艘姊妹船相继投入使用,然而在仅仅相隔4年之后,当年还在草图上的“玛丽女王二世”号游船就正式投入了使用。该船排水量达到15万吨,最多可载客3090名,从而取代了“海上旅行者”号成为迄今为止投入运营的世界上最大豪华游船。然而,海外的投资商对建造更大级别的游船表现出异乎寻常的热情,对他们来说,只要有充分的资金,造多大的船舶都是可以实现的,谁能保证几年之后不会出现比“玛丽女王二世”号更大的游船呢?
The emergence of super-luxury cruise ships should be said to be the predecessor and technical foundation of the concept of an offshore city. From the beginning of the Titanic at the beginning of the 19th century, the concept of luxury cruise ships has been deeply rooted. With a displacement of 150,000 tons, the vessel can carry up to 3,090 passengers, thus replacing the Sea Traveler as the world’s largest luxury cruise ship that has been put into operation so far. However, overseas investors have shown extraordinary enthusiasm for building larger-scale cruise ships. For them, as long as they have sufficient funds, large-scale ships can be realized. Who can guarantee that they will not appear in a few years time? What about a larger cruise ship than Queen Mary II?
