1993年7月,上海知识分子发出了“人文精神寻思”的口号,引起了一场全国性的讨论。他们不满于知识分子的“失语”。认为在文化政治环境的束缚和金钱、物质的引诱下知识分子的“人文精神”日益萎缩,丧失了批判能力。主张重建知识分子传统,保持对社会人生的终极关怀。讨论观点庞杂,多意气之争缺乏学理深度,最终也未形成统一认识。十多年过去了,拉开一定距离,有可能也有必要更客观、全面地审视它,既看到意义也找出不足。本文从当年的讨论文章入手,试图还原历史现场。对“人文精神寻思”的过程及论辩双方的观点、立场进行深入分析,力图客观全面地整合这次讨论。
