Nutritional status of dietary zinc in 3916 pregnant women, lactating women and young women in eight districts of the country were evaluated. The differences among different regions were compared and the effects of zinc deficiency on births and infants were studied. The results showed that the average zinc intake of 3916 pregnant women, nurse and young women was 6.5 ± 2.3 ~ 9.0 ± 3.6mg / d, and only 7.2% of the respondents reached more than two thirds of our RDA. Dietary zinc is mainly derived from cereals (about 77%), with significant differences between regions. By single correlation and stepwise regression analysis, the zinc intake of mothers is closely related to the growth and development of the fetus and the birth weight of the newborn. The dietary intake of zinc in the mother’s body during pregnancy has a direct effect on the growth and development of the fetus.
