国内外专家普遍认为,未来欧Ⅵ之后,汽车业将不再提升有毒物质排放标准,而将加严CO2排放标准,亦即加严燃油消耗标准。均质充量压缩着火(HCCI,Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition)燃烧技术—一种不用后处理就能完全解决汽车柴油机氮氧化物NOx和颗粒PM排放问题的最有潜力的技术,愈来愈受到业内研发人员的重视。据悉,奔驰、曼、斯堪尼亚、沃尔沃等国外商用车巨头都在投巨资研发该技术,其中曼甚至称最快有望在欧Ⅵ实施时推出含该技术的产品。不过,业内多数研究机构认为该技术成熟至少应在2015年后。
