I. Introduction Tanggu Newport is located in the estuary of the Haihe River. Its strata are alternating layers of sea and land deposits and belong to the Quaternary Holocene fresh layer. As the formation of new age, the low degree of pre-consolidation, groundwater level is very shallow, resulting in high compressibility of the clay here, porosity ratio, plasticity, soft soil. When the Fengnan earthquake in Tangshan in 1976 caused the shore slope of the piled wharfs on both banks of the Haihe River and in the Xingang Port Area to be affected to varying degrees. Several landslides were found during the earthquake; most of the bank slope was led by soil deformation
