In recent years, calligraphy and painting gradually tended to pursue novel and visual stimuli in form, and its core cultural values were neglected repeatedly. The painting and calligraphy works that were not cultivated became almost empty shells. On the contrary, Western contemporary art in the second half of the 20th century elicited the notion of conceptual art just after getting out of the shackles of form. This is an emphasis on the spiritual elements of works of art. In contrast, we can find an interesting phenomenon, that is, when we are pursuing the form, the West turns its attention to the spiritual connotation of the work.
