In recent years, with ASEAN’s increasingly important role in the affairs of the Asia Pacific region, the United States has also been paying more attention to ASEAN. The economic and trade cooperation between the two sides is being further strengthened. However, the United States-led TPP, while bringing about new development opportunities for related ASEAN members, has also, to a certain extent, split ASEAN. Considering the strategy of “great power balance” and the status of “ASEAN center,” ASEAN has not only further relied on the United States in political security but also actively strengthened its economic and trade relations with the United States in an attempt to get rid of its dependence on China economically. However, the development of economic and trade relations between the two sides will not have a substantive negative impact on China.
