古斯塔夫.霍尔斯特.特奥多尔(Gustav Holst Theodor 1874~1934)是20世纪英国音乐复兴时期重要的、具有代表性的作曲家之一。他一生不仅精于西方音乐,偏爱多调性创作技法,同时,对非欧音乐文化的兴趣颇深,特别是在东方哲学以及印度音乐文化(古老的梵文)等方面有深入的研究。东方文化观不仅体现在他的作品之中,而且对形成其独特的音乐个性风格产生了深远意义。如何正确评析印度文化对包括英国在内的欧洲社会产生的影响?如何正确看待霍尔斯特具有印度风格的音乐作品?本文运用音乐学、民族音乐学、人类文化学等理论与研究方法展开对霍尔斯特音乐的系列研究,从印度音乐与英国(欧洲)音乐的相互交流进而延伸至东方与西方跨文化的认知与异文化互融之关系的再认识,以求进一步开阔学术眼界,引发更多的思考,获得更多的新识。
Gustav Holst Theodor (1874 ~ 1934) is one of the important and representative composers of the 20th century British music renaissance. His life is not only proficient in western music, he prefers multi-tune creative techniques, but he also has a deep interest in non-European musical culture, especially in Eastern philosophy and Indian music culture (ancient Sanskrit). Oriental cultural view is not only reflected in his works, but also has a far-reaching significance for the formation of his unique music style. How to correctly evaluate the impact of Indian culture on European society including Britain? How to correctly view Holst’s Indian style musical works? In this paper, we apply the theories and research methods of musicology, ethnomusicology and human culture A series of Holst music studies, from the mutual exchange of Indian music and British (European) music to the recognition of the cross-cultural cognition and intercultural integration in the East and the West in order to further broaden the academic horizon, Trigger more thinking, get more new knowledge.
