本文主要从三个方面展开:一、王诜的收藏途径与方法:以物易藏品、藏品互换、接受馈赠、索取藏品、借而不还、斥资购置、作伪、以权谋取藏品等。二、王诜的私人收藏品丰赡,书画为主。三、王诜的收藏观:古今精品俱珍,不厚古不薄今;重彩、水墨,工笔、写意,花鸟、人物、山水、走兽等兼收并蓄,视野开阔;藏而不秘,同好共享;藏而善鉴,论乎深奥,构其名实;鉴而善用,汲取营养,滋润创作,做到“兼收并蓄,泥古出新”。总之,收藏、鉴藏、创作、交流在王诜身上成为一个有机的循环链条,这种集收藏与创作于一身,互为助益的模式成为中国传统收藏家的圭臬。
