笔者在对驻上海德国展览公司的采访过程中发现一个很特别的现象,那就是五大德国展览公司的上海分公司几乎无一例外的都是由中国员工在全盘操作。一位德国汉诺威展览公司的高级经理向笔者介绍:“几次按照德国总部模式操作的展会,效果均欠佳,问题用一句话解释就是‘水土不服’,反倒那些按照中国模式操作的展会都很成功。因此德国高管留驻中国就没有多大的意义了。”由此可以看出,展览行业在中国具有它的特殊性,尤其是上面提到的,它不能依靠惯用的“师夷长技”的模式发展。因此就要独自探索,冲出一条路来。接下来就存在两方面的问题:首先,由于它对操作模式本土化的要求,使国外实力雄厚的展览公司对本土公司的竞争力大打折扣,从这个角度上讲,展览行业具备其他行业所不具备的机遇和优势;然而正是由于这种行业特性,我们没有非常具有可行性的现成先进经验可以借鉴,而
