Grid system is an emerging infrastructure that promises to unify resources and computing power in many organizations together. At the present state, it is still very complex to use grid system due to the lack of a powerful and highly automated grid resource manager. In this paper,the development of a grid resource manager called SCEGrid is presented. The architecture of global-scope resource management software for grid system is proposed.Then, the design and development of scheduler software are described. SCEGrid software allows users to use simple single-command to submit, query, and cancel existing sequential jobs running in the grid. This eliminates the need to manually write the complicate job descriptions files. The experimental results have been conducted to compare between system with and without SCEGrid using the execution time of arbitrary number of sequential jobs. The experimental results indicate that SCEGrid can speed up the total run time of task sequence on the experimental grid system. In summary, SCEGrid provides a means for users to effectively exploit the huge amount of computing power make available by the grid infrastructure to solve their compute intensive problems.
