Objective To study the effect of polysaccharide on the longevity and the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and malondialdehyde (MDA) in Drosophila. Methods Two kinds of Cordyceps-related fungi, Phaeodactylus chinensis and Acacia melatona exopolysaccharides, which were obtained by fractional precipitation of different concentrations of ethanol, were respectively added into Drosophila melanogaster feed to study the effects of different polysaccharides on the longevity of Drosophila melanogaster and its in vivo SOD And MDA content. Results The exopolysaccharide P60 from P. bats significantly prolonged the average life span of female and male flies, which reached 17.04% and 18.36% respectively. The activity of SOD was significantly increased (28.02% and 26.85%) in male and female flies, while the content of MDA was decreased 50.67% and 54.30%, respectively. The G50 of Acremonium spp. Significantly prolonged the average life span of male and female flies, reaching 15.62% and 15.96% respectively, significantly increasing the SOD activity in male and female fruit flies, which were 42.55% and 26.74% %, Significantly reduce the MDA content, respectively, 47.30% and 49.00%. Conclusion Polysaccharide components P60 and G50 can significantly prolong the life span of Drosophila melanogaster, increase its SOD activity and decrease MDA content.
