I. Preface The slagging of the heating surface in the furnace is one of the major problems that seriously affect the safety and economic operation of power plant boilers. At present, the judgment on the slagging characteristics of new coal-fired power plants in China is still at the level of the 1950s, which is roughly estimated by the gray melting point of the weak reduction atmosphere. Thus in the boiler furnace heat load and other major design selection parameters, often result in errors.
