【Atomic Atomic Energy】 Vol. 27, No. 11, 1983, page 35 The Japan Institute of Atomic Energy has developed a new method of coating titanium carbide on the first wall of a nuclear fusion device vacuum vessel. The institute recently applied this new technology to the Tokamak JT-60. Use high-temperature molybdenum as the material for the first wall, then apply a layer of titanium carbide. Titanium carbide on plasma impurities affect only one-seventh of the molybdenum. When titanium carbide is coated, a chemical vapor deposition method by means of plasma is employed. It is better than any other method
