A new software package developed by Ashton-Tate links the company’s dBaseIIIPlus to IBM’s system/38 minicomputer. This new software package (called Direct/38) is completely on the PC. It allows users of dBaseIIIPlus to access the system/38 minicomputer’s data files without having to leave the dBase environment. It works with Support/38, which is an application that connects a personal computer to a system/38 minicomputer. With this package, tasks that previously had to be completed on a small computer can now be worked with the dBase language
