中国现代文学发展到20年代,呈现出鲜明的苦闷和反思的特征。五四一代在历史的转折过程中,告别文学的目的性,隔离理性普遍主义,对其历史行为的反思与创作,构成了他们异常突出的心理性内涵和悲剧性感受的心理氛围。一方面,困惑、苦闷、彷徨,构成了这一时期文艺内容包括恋爱问题的真正主题和背景,另一方面,这一转折,为文学的发展拓展了新领域,提供了新动力,使社会解放、集体主义、阶级斗争、民族救亡成为当时文学的中心话语。正是这种对历史行为的反思以及多种价值范畴的涌现、对知识者自身的审视,为社会、文学的发展注入了股股动力。
