Pulse compression is a technique used in radar where radars emit wide pulses to increase the energy that is impinging on the target while still maintaining the target range resolution that is present when emitting narrow pulses. It is an anti-jamming feature that increases the burn-through distance and makes it harder for the enemy to collect electronic intelligence. However, this technique has its advantages and disadvantages as far as interference is concerned. Pulse compression radar uses linear FM, phase or frequency wide pulse encoding. After the radar target signal is reflected and received, the wide pulse is compressed into a narrow pulse with the internal reference signal by modulation or coding of the signal, thus obtaining the range resolution. The ratio of wide pulse to narrow pulse is called
