In recent years, the understanding of the etiology and pathogens of periodontal diseases has been deepening. At the same time, the understanding of microorganisms in endodontics has also been taken seriously. Continuous anaerobic culture increases the detection rate of anaerobic bacteria and provides us with detailed knowledge of the root canal and root apical flora. Recent studies have shown similarities between late periodontal and endodontic bacterial populations, suggesting the existence of cross-infection. This article reviews the bacteria most likely to be involved in this infection to illustrate this similarity. Gram (G) -negative bacteria are the dominant bacteria in the complete root canal and periodontal pocket with necrotic pulp
