以绘画为主要表现形式的图像艺术,是人类运用技艺来显示视觉性及其内容的经典范式。图像艺术本质上是一种关于绘制之技艺的艺术。在古典时代及其转向现代的过程里,图像艺术迎来了自身的危机,以及由此傍生的文化与社会危机。大卫·霍克尼、约翰·伯格及瓦尔特·本雅明三位具有不同身份的知识人关于这方面话题的探讨而展开,阐述了艺术史上技艺危机的三个面向,并由此勾连起现代性社会危机问题,从而提出可能的由理论而现实的解决之道。
