In October 1932, Yu Rizhang, director general of the All-China YMCA National Association, went to the United States to publicize anti-Japanese and fund-raising for the Northeast Volunteers. During his stay in the United States, he wrote what he had read and heard as an open letter and spread it to broaden his influence. The letter aroused the concern of the U.S. side. The U.S. Consul General in Nanjing, Pei Ke, successively reported to the U.S. Secretary of State and his minister in Peiping. The letter from Yu Ri Zhang not only shows the enthusiastic support of the American nationals for the anti-Japanese war of the Northeast Volunteers, but also understands the situation of the propaganda war between China and Japan in the United States.
