The latest equipment and process adjustments for metal extraction at the Gcco concentrator have seen significant improvements. In grinding, due to the utilization of the hydrocyclone, the classification efficiency is improved, fine grinding results in increased metal recovery. Copper concentrate operations were originally carried out in the alkaline pH range. In the improved production practice, copper concentrates were reground and acidified by the addition of SO 2 to suppress the impurity zinc. Due to the selection of copper operations using open-circuit operation, reducing the copper roughing cycle load. The benefit of process improvement is a significant reduction in loss of zinc in the copper concentrate, an increase in copper concentrate grade, and an increase in zinc recovery.
