西北少数民族地区的音乐教育一直存在着严重的“汉化”和“西化”现象，因此导致我们缺乏真正的少数民族音乐学家和少数民族音乐活动家。要改变这种状况，必须做到转变教学观念，着眼于西北少数民族地区的音乐文化而实施教育；改变课程设置，加紧少数民族音乐师资的培养；强化艺术实践，从全方位着手培养少数民族音乐人才；适应西北少数民族地区音乐教育的需要，改进教学手段。要做到这一切，既需要我们西北地区广大音乐工作者的努力，也需要各级领导的重视以及全社会的大力配合。
There has been a serious phenomenon of “localization” and “westernization” in music education in the northwest ethnic minority areas, which has resulted in the lack of genuine minority musicologists and minority music activists. In order to change this situation, we must change the teaching concept, focus on the music culture in the northwest ethnic minority areas, and implement education. We should change the curriculums and intensify the training of minority music teachers. We should strengthen the artistic practice and start from all directions to cultivate the minority music Talent; to meet the needs of music education in northwest ethnic minority areas, improve teaching methods. To do all this, it not only requires the efforts of the vast number of musicians in Northwest China, but also requires the attention of leaders at all levels and the vigorous cooperation of the whole society.
