Compared with many international music festival, the Bayreuth Festival always seems to mean special significance. In July and August each summer, there are always thousands of Wagner fans gathered here to “pilgrimage.” To them, the purpose is not only to watch Wagner’s opera (the Wagner’s opera, which is also produced at the Metropolitan Opera House in the United States), but to “catch a dream.” Because, every five years, Bayreuth will launch a new production of Wagner opera. Each time a new version of the opera is launched, it will attract numerous criticisms and arguments. Even so, the flow of people to “pilgrimage” continues. I had the privilege of experiencing the unique atmosphere of a Barkuth Festival in the summer of August 2002 with the “pilgrimage” of the population.
