有限元法是一种强有力的计算方法,用它可以解决许多领域的计算问题.但在某些情况下,它仍然存在一定的缺点.董平教授指出:“假使我们要求解一个2000阶的方程组,那么对称矩阵大约有两百万个元素,为要得到解所需的运算次数约为10~(10)次,而在IBM370/155机上所需的计算机时间约为10~4秒.目前的计算机对于两百万个信息没有足够的内存,另外,10~4秒也是一个很可观的计算机时间”.三维空间问题所形成的大型方程组远远超过2000阶,我国大、中、小城市不可能都配备大型快速电子计算机,即使有,小问题用大型电子计算机解算也会造成巨大浪费.本文提出的有限条带法不仅克服了以上缺点,而且具有减少未知量、简化计算等优点.
