INTRODUCTION Pleurotus ostreatus develops well on a suitable medium and grows well. This feature has been widely used in physiological studies and in-depth cultivation of industrialized production (Hashimofo et al 1974; Bukhalo et al 1978). However, this is not entirely successful, there is no continuity of this production. Many of the parameters in this process are not fully understood, so research is still needed. We have reported on the utilization of nitrogen sources by four Pleurotus strains. Based on the characteristics and needs of the growth of Pleurotus ostreatus in culture medium, this paper discussed exactly the choice of carbon types and obtained the best value of the balance of carbon and nitrogen in the matrix.
