一种可以利用有线电视网络提供电话服务的电缆电话系统最近在以色列研制成功。以色列艾尔比特公司开发的这种电缆电话系统采用有线电视网中的同轴电缆代替传统电话网中的双绞线,利用双向有线电视网络的上行和下行频道,通过特别设计的计算机控制系统与公共电话交换网相连,用户安装一个智能接线盒,便可以将自家的电视、电话和家用电脑与电缆电话系统相接,进而同时享有有线电视、电话和电脑入网等多项服务。一个电缆电话系统可以向大约三千个用户提供电话服务,而许多单独的电缆电话系统可通过与公共电话交换网相连而组成完整的电缆电话网络。艾尔比特公司执行副总裁哈鲁维依向记者介绍说,新型电缆电话系统和传统的电话网相比具有很多优势。首先是建设费用低,可利用现有的有线电视网络;另外,该系统还可以同传统的电话网络共存,优化投资组合。
A cable telephone system that can provide telephone service over cable networks was recently developed in Israel. This cable telephone system, developed by Israel’s Elbit Company, uses coaxial cable in the cable network instead of twisted pair in the traditional telephone network, using the upstream and downstream channels of the bi-directional cable television network, through a specially designed computer control system and Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), users can install their own smart box to connect their own TVs, phones and home PCs to the cable telephone system and enjoy the services of cable television, telephone and computer networks. A cable telephone system can provide telephone service to about 3,000 users, and many individual cable telephone systems can form a complete cable telephone network by connecting to a public switched telephone network. Alhambhoo Executive Vice President Haruwey told reporters that the new cable telephone system has many advantages over the traditional telephone network. The first is the low cost of construction, the use of existing cable television networks; in addition, the system can also co-exist with the traditional telephone network to optimize the investment portfolio.
