风流天子乾隆下江南,留下了许多奇文轶事.其中“烟锁池塘柳”上联就是一例.据说清朝时期一次科举考试,杭州西湖有两名考生名列前茅,令主考官难分上下.适逢乾隆皇帝巡视江南,路过此地,主考官便将其两考生的答卷呈上,请他定夺.乾隆看后也觉得学才不分仲伯,便决计以一副对联来考察他俩.次日晨,乾隆将考场定在西湖岸边.此时,天高云淡,微风和煦,乾隆兴致勃勃.两考生则垂手而立,毕恭毕敬,极紧张地等待着决定命运时刻的到来.这时,乾隆不慌不忙缓缓地吟出一副对联的上句来:“烟锁池塘柳”.
