I’m Jun Toshiaki from Japan’s House of Representatives. During my visit as the Prime Minister of the Cabinet, I paid a visit to Beijing in August last year and I am grateful to General Secretary Jiang Zemin, Premier Li Peng and the Chinese people for their hospitality. This visit to China is not only honored by Premier Li Peng’s invitation, but also gives me the opportunity to talk to such a large number of people about my education concept at the Beijing-Tokyo Urban Issues Seminar on Family Education. Although there are differences between the educational system and other aspects in China and Japan, there are many commonalities between them in terms of educating people. The reason why “family education” has been identified as the theme of this symposium is probably due to this realization. In this regard, I also strongly agree. I. Reflection on “Intellectual Bias.” I really participated in the education issue in Japan. It began sixteen years ago when the Cabinet as Minister of Culture was admitted to the then Fukuda Cabinet.
